Caretaker

FILLED!

Would you like to live in a mansion?!

The Cook-Rutledge Mansion Board of Directors is recruiting for an on-site caretaker. This is a rare opportunity to wake up every morning in a beautiful structure that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The live-in steward would respectfully look after the mansion with a primary responsibility of keeping the interior clean, scheduling and conducting tours and private events, and acting as a liaison to the Board of Directors. Not a bad trade off for living in the former home of a once prominent lumber baron!

(A more complete set of responsibilities is available here.)

In exchange for attentively performing the duties of caretaker, the person who will be devoted to this non-salaried position will enjoy a second floor, one-bedroom apartment in the Mansion, rent free. In addition, the following services are provided at no cost to the person selected for this important job: electric, heat, garbage service, water, kitchen appliances, washer, dryer, basement storage, Wi-Fi, lawn service, and snow removal. The caretaker would also have access to a detached garage.

Candidates must have a successful work history, strong communication skills, ability to work with a team for a common goal, an interest or background in history, and be physically able to perform all duties listed in the contract with dedication and enthusiasm. A month-to-month lease and caretaker contract are required.

To apply, complete and submit the application form along with a current résumé to:
